Role and process of magnesium ingot pickling

The process of removing impurities on the surface of magnesium ingot and adding anti-oxidation film. The surface of magnesium ingot is easily corroded when exposed to the atmosphere. In addition, some impurities on the surface of magnesium ingot, such as inorganic chloride flux and electrolyte, will also strongly corrode magnesium. Therefore, the magnesium ingots produced by refining must undergo proper surface protection treatment to reduce the corrosion loss of magnesium ingots during storage. The method of surface treatment of magnesium ingot varies with its storage time and user requirements.

From the perspective of environmental protection, it is better to use sulfuric acid pickling for fine magnesium pickling, because nitric acid will produce nitrogen oxides and pollute the atmosphere.
Pickling process
1. Pickling preparation:
1.1 Tools: crown crane, stainless steel cage, pickling tank, sulfuric acid;
1.2 Safety preparations: Rubber gloves and safe distance
2. With acid:
2.1 Clean the pickling tank with clean water several times to ensure that there is no garbage, sundries and dust in the tank;
2.2 Fill the clear water tank three-quarters of the way;
2.3 Fill the pickling tank with water, and prepare the pickling liquid according to the corresponding proportion standard, up to three fourths of the pickling tank;
3. Install ingot:
3.1 Put the stainless steel cage on the cart;
3.2 Fill magnesium ingot into stainless cage;
3.3 Push the cart under the crown;
3.4 Start the crown, lift the stainless steel cage, and slowly move it to the pickling pool;
